Opportunities

I am currently recruiting 2 summer interns (at the undergraduate level) and 1 PhD student to work on projects related to radiation-induced corrosion starting Summer/Fall 2027.

Projects include: 

• The assessment of corrosion coatings in the presence of radiation for use in the nuclear reactor core in collaboration with Velan. This project is perfect for someone interested in the nuclear industry, electrochemistry, and metallurgy and wants experience working with industry members. 

• Characterization of radiation-produced hydrogen absorption into metals. This project is perfect for someone interested in radiation chemistry, electrochemistry, corrosion, and novel characterization methods.  

• Development of in-situ electrochemical cell for use in a nuclear reactor. This project is perfect for someone interested in radiation chemistry, electrochemistry, and the advancement of analytical techniques.

Students can expect a flexible and considerate working environment, annual attendance at conferences, and fundamental research applicable to industry. After completion of their degree, students will have advanced training in metal degradation, electrochemistry, analytical thinking, and radiation chemistry. Furthermore, a high level of scientific communication, leadership, and networking skills will be gained.
